We are proud to offer you a wide range of options for solid, engineered and composite wood flooring that suit your needs.
What Are the Differences?
There are three primary categories of wood flooring at our disposal:
Solid Wood Hardwood - A continuous piece made entirely from real wood, top-to-bottom.
Engineered Wood - Comprises real wood throughout but features multiple layers or slats glued together diagonally for stability agnst contraction and expansion effects.
Composite Engineered Wood
A surface layer of genuine wood with engineered backing that adds properties like moisture resistance or enhanced durability.
Composite wood floors can be easier to install than traditional hardwood flooring and might require less time for climate acclimation.
Choosing between Solid, Engineered, or Composite Wood?
When selecting a wood floor type, consider these five factors to narrow down your decision:
Gloss Level
Lower gloss finishes will show marks from dly use more subtly but can accumulate dirt over time compared to higher gloss finishes.
Grn Pattern
Species like oak and hickory with visible grn patterns are less prone to showing scuffs and scratches than smoother surfaces such as exotic or domestic maple floors.
Surface Texture
Adding texture through hand scraping or other finishing techniques can help disguise wear.
Color Tone
Lighter or medium shades t to hide marks better than dark or rich tones, which draw attention to minor scratches.
Durability
The hardness of wood flooring is influenced by the type and species. It can be measured using a Janka scale that reflects its resistance to indentation.
